Tomorrow, Mendham Borough Day Camp is coming to visit the OWLZ at Hilltop School. Since "The Zone" hasn't been shown too much love lately, we decided to go down, weed-whack and pull weeds. We used an entire tank of gas in the weed-whacker within 45 minutes of borrowing it from Hilltop to use for today (thanks guys!). Besides an inordinate amount of earthworms (some of the biggest we've ever seen), we found wild strawberries, blackberries, walnuts, blue berries (not blueberries mind you), and grapes (yes we're serious). After all of this weeding we decided several things. First, we are going to ask the awesome Hilltop custodians to start mowing the paths of The Zone. Second, we are going to start looking for groups to take care of certain classroom areas. Third, we need to sort out the water problem, probably utilizing the black piping we have. Fourth, we can't wait for students to start using it this school year! Looking forward to Mendham Borough Day Camp's visit tomorrow, can't wait! |
